Public aviation company Volato Group has announced the launch of Bitcoin mining operations in aircraft, marking the first step in exploring the integration of mining within aviation. With this innovation, the company aims to add BTC to its balance sheet by Q1 2025.According to the press release, the initial phase of mining will take place on the ground. This step is necessary to study cryptocurrency mining processes before implementing the company’s patented aviation mining technology. While in-flight Bitcoin mining has not yet begun, Volato remains focused on integrating cryptocurrency mining into aviation and is considering Cessna Citation CJ as its foundational platform for this purpose.Why did the airline choose Cessna aircraft?The CJ series includes over 2,100 Cessna aircraft, making it one of the most widely used light jet models in the world. This ensures scalability in the process of integrating Bitcoin mining.The company highlights that this type of aircraft features a stable electrical system with consistent power output, making Cessna an ideal platform for mining hardware integration without affecting flight operations.
